Founded in 2019, Hidden Brain Media is an independent production company with roots in public radio. We strive to create a workplace that mirrors the values of our mission statement: to help curious people understand the world — and themselves.

Marketing and production assistant:
Do you love thinking about how to connect ideas and stories with new audiences? Do you enjoy the ever-evolving puzzle of what makes something engaging online?
Hidden Brain is looking for a marketing and production assistant to help us connect our editorial work with fans across multiple platforms. Your goal will be to take the ideas that we explore on our flagship podcast and radio show and promote this work on other platforms.
If you’re a fan of Hidden Brain and would enjoy thinking about how to reach new and different audiences with the work we produce — and ideally convert these new audiences into loyal podcast listeners — this may be the role for you.
What You’ll Do in this Job:
- Work with our technology partner to create translations of the Hidden Brain podcast in Spanish, French and other languages, and upload the translated episodes for podcast listeners
- Deploy our audio and video assets to audiences across YouTube and a range of social media platforms, and actively engage in curating the conversation around our work on these platforms
- Assist with the management of Hidden Brain’s presence on other public-facing platforms, such as hiddenbrain.org, our Patreon page, our podcast publishing platform, and other CMSs TBD.
- Assist Hidden Brain’s executive producer with communication and asset delivery for collaborations with partners.
- Find ways to drive audiences to our large and growing archive, by highlighting ideas and insights from the archive that connect with news events and people’s daily lives.
- Assist with miscellaneous editorial and production-related tasks, as needed.
Required Skills and Attributes:
- At least two years of experience in an audience-focused marketing role, with a demonstrable track record of audience growth for the projects you managed.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills.
- An understanding of best practices across various social media and content platforms, and a hunger to experiment in the service of reaching new audiences.
- This job will require in-person collaboration with teammates in the Washington, D.C. area, and requires someone who lives in the “DMV.”
- Temperament is as important to us as skills in this role. We seek to work with people who are conscientious, collegial, thoughtful, and kind. Our work thrives in a climate of mutual trust, and we’re looking for people whose default impulse is to support their colleagues and create a positive team environment.
Preferred Skills and Attributes:
- Familiarity with Hidden Brain and the content we produce.
- Experience working with photo and/or audio and/or video production
- Facility with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Familiarity with Hidden Brain and an interest in social science research
- Facility with languages, especially Spanish
Pay range: $65,000 plus benefits
Contract: This is a one-year grant-funded position, which is renewable based on mutual agreement and continued funding.
How to apply: Send an email with your resume and cover letter to [email protected].
Deadline to apply: January 15, 2026
Our Culture:
We celebrate diverse perspectives, both in our journalism and in our interactions with each other. We love counterintuitive and provocative ideas, and firmly believe that ideas can shape the world for the better. Knowledge and book learning are valued on our team, but even more important are conscientiousness, collegiality and an ability to think clearly under pressure. We prize “yes, and” over “no, but” as a default response to opportunities. We’re committed to the financial sustainability of our enterprise. We believe in being emotionally intelligent toward one another.
